Last year, Big Green Jewish, in partnership with JHub, assisted organisations to go green and save money, whilst also generating income across communities for social action and sustainability.

Through the Solar Action initiative, communal organisations received part-funding of Solar PV panel installation on their building. This enabled organisations to generate their own environmentally-friendly energy.

As well as saving hundreds of pounds on utility bills, organisations are generating additional income, thanks to the UK Government's Feed-in Tariffs scheme, which guarantees 20 years of payment for electricity generated by solar panels.

For more information on solar panels, see our case study or see some background information from Energise Barnet.

Through Solar Action some of this additional income is being spent on further sustainability measures and social action projects locally and contributing to sustainability and social action work throughout the community. Read about one community's plans here.
